Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Journalism from University of Lincoln, UK
My name is Sebastian Young and I am very pleased to introduce myself to you and your children. I grew up in a small commuter town just north of London, England in an unusually multicultural family; Chinese-Jamaican father and English mother. I am extremely proud of my cultural heritage and believe that growing up as a mixed-race child afforded me an early lesson in the value of diversity.

I have always been passionate about travel and have been fortunate enough to live and work in many different countries, in equally different roles. My interests eventually led me to Japan, where I worked from 2010-2015 as an English teacher in the far-northern city of Akita. Teaching at elementary and junior high schools there was such a fantastic experience and really highlighted to me the importance of English language education in todays global community.

I came to Singapore in 2015 to work as a reading specialist before being given this opportunity to join the amazing team here at Lorna Whiston schools. I am excited to be working for a well-respected school such as this and I very much look forward to working with your children. I will be bringing my passion and experience in English education to my classes and look forward to helping my students grow and prosper.

Outside of work my interests include cooking, writing, watching movies, scuba diving and snowboarding (though I may have to find a new hobby here in Singapore). I am also currently working towards my MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL from the University of Leicester, UK.

I hope to meet or speak with you soon, but please always feel free to approach me to discuss your childs progress.
