About lorna whiston

An Academic Legacy

As a young teacher, Lorna taught in the UK before coming to Singapore in the 1960s, where she gained much recognition for her work in the British Armed Forces and international schools. In 1980, she opened the first Lorna Whiston school in a humble outlet, with the aim of improving the local standard of English.

Founded on Lorna’s belief that teachers are the most important part of a good school, Lorna Whiston’s reputation grew, counting the children from some of the most prestigious families in Singapore among her students.

40 years on, we hold true to those same beliefs.

What we believe in

Our Vision

To provide the best years early education, by having the best early years educators.

Our Mission

Lorna Whiston believes that educators are the heart of education. For over 40 years, we have been devoted to working only with teachers of the highest calibre and the right character.

We are proud to have transformed lives through exceptional learning experiences for young students, giving memorable lessons they cherish through to adulthood.

CORE Values

Character:

Good teammates and teachers go beyond certifications or years of work. The right character - fair, honest, hardworking, upright, open-minded; these are the people that we want to build around.

Passion:

Education is all about passion. We want only the most passionate people, working towards a vision they believe in. We must never let people lose their passion in education.

Learning:

The best lessons are taught through mistakes. To accept accountability is the first step to learning. We must foster an environment where people dare to ask, try, and fall, knowing we are there to help them up.

Diversity:

From talents to ability, we recognise that each individual is unique. There's more than one way to see the world, and we celebrate this diversity in strength and personalities.

Happiness:

An often overlooked value, we strongly believe in the power of a happy organisation. Our systems and processes should allow people to express themselves and enjoy work.
