1. Glamping: Home Version
Secure a huge blanket to two or three chairs. Make it as cosy as possible by gathering all the fluffy favourites around the house to make a fort. Place fairy lights around the interior to brighten it up and make it inviting. Set out a simple picnic basket with pretend food or real snacks and complete the glamping experience with a child friendly movie!
2. The Lost Treasures
Hide toys around the house. Plan a treasure hunt list by writing down, drawing it, or taking photos and printing out the pictures. Set out some fun background music and go on a hunt for the toys! For older children, have them create a treasure map for the house to up the challenge and fun.
3. Cardboard Creations
Get creative with cardboard. Keep those delivery boxes and amass a collection of various sizes. Sanitise them well by wiping them down with anti-bacterial wipes and drying them out under the sun. Plan, design and create an ambitious cardboard project!
4. Critters and Wall Marble Runs
Keep those toilet paper rolls and upcycle them into fun little critters. Getting bored with them after a while of playing? Use blue tack and attach them to a door or an empty wall and create a wall marble run track for endless fun!
5. Handprints A to Z
Using a chart, try naming animals from A to Z together. Use coloured paints to create hand and foot prints on drawing paper. Make use of these prints to create the animals from A to Z!
6. Dough it!
Time to get real messy. Mix half a cup of corn-starch, one cup of baking soda, three quarter cup of water and four to five drops of food colouring into a bowl. For the daring, add some glitter. Knead for even consistency and add a pinch of salt for your dough mix to last longer. Keep it in a container or wrap it in cling wrap. Make a few more colours. Get creative and start moulding!
7. Fastest Hands First
Found some left over party paper cups during a Marie Kondo moment? Donโt thank them and chuck them away. Build a tower of six, ten or more and stack them all back together in record speed. Find out who has the most nimble hands!
8. Doodle Machines
Stock up the house with mah-jong paper because it is always a fan favourite. Stick it to an empty wall or make a big canvas out of a few pieces by putting it on the floor. This allows for hours of doodling fun!
9. Hopscotches and Townships
Make use of rolls of tape to recreate a hopscotch on the floor and jump away! Alternatively, create roads and car parks for some intricate township building with colourful blocks and cars.
10. Shadow Play
Celebrate Friday with a night party, grab some torch lights, prop them on chairs and shine them on an empty stretch of wall. Have fun using hands or any body parts to create interesting shadows on the wall. Cut out animal outlines and throw in a few other materials to extend the shadow play.
